Symptoms
You receive one of the following error codes when accessing TechShare or any other network share:
Windows cannot access \\techshare.ttu.edu
- Error code: 0x80070035
- Error code: 0x80004005
- Error code: 0x80070002
- Error code: 0x800704cf
Cause
There are multiple causes for the error shown above. Any of the following could cause this error:
- Corrupt TCP/IP stack
- An invalid network adapter configuration
- Network file path does not exist
- Spelling of the file(s) is incorrect
Resolution
Verify that "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" are checked in the network adapter properties. If the two settings are not available, click Install and install the two settings using the client and service options. Then, reset winsock.
2) Click Network and Internet.
3) Click Network and Sharing Center.
4) On the left side, click Change adapter settings.
5) Right-click on your wireless network connection and choose Properties.
6) Verify that "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" are both available and checked. If both options are available and checked, skip to StepĀ 13; otherwise proceed to the next step.
7) To install "Client for Microsoft Networks", click Install.
8) Choose Client and click Add.
9) Choose Client for Microsoft Networks and click OK.
10) Choose Service and click Add.
11) On the left side, choose Microsoft, and on the right side click File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks. Then, click OK.
12) Verify that "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" are both checked, and then click OK.
13) Reset winsock.
14) After restarting the computer, try connecting to the shared drive again.
Outcome
You are able to connect to the shared drive.
