Error: "Alias already exists for another user" when choosing your TechMail address

Symptoms

You receive the following message when attempting to choose a TechMail alias:

Alias already exists for another user

Cause

Another person at TTU, TTUHSC, or TTUHSC El Paso has already chosen the alias that you chose. (The alias is the portion of the email address before the @ symbol.)

Resolution

Pick a unique alias that does not result in the error message appearing.

OUTCOME

You will be able to set your TechMail email address.
