Unable to send or receive emails with TechMail because over quota

Cause

Your TechMail account has either reached or exceeded its storage quota.

  • If your mailbox reaches its quota, sending messages will be disabled until your account has been cleaned out sufficiently to go below the limit.
  • If your mailbox exceeds its quota, sending and receiving messages will be disabled until your account has been cleaned out sufficiently to go below the limit.

CAUTION: If your mailbox exceeds its quota, incoming messages are bounced by the server and cannot be recovered.

Resolution

Delete or archive enough items to fall back under your account quota. Perform mailbox quota troubleshooting to free up space.

You can check the current usage of your account by following the appropriate solution based on your email client:

Emails that are in your Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Junk Email, or any other folders count towards your quota. If you have emails with large attachments, consider saving those attachments to an alternate storage location and deleting those emails. If you use Outlook for Mac or Windows, you can also set up archiving which will move older items from your TechMail account and save them locally on your computer.

OUTCOME

You can use TechMail without problems.
