Nintendo Switch device cannot connect to TTUnet Wi-Fi due to lack of WPA2-Enterprise technology

Cause

The TTUnet Wi-FI network uses the industry standard technology known as WPA2-Enterprise (802.1X). Nintendo Switch systems do not support 802.1X authentication and therefore cannot connect to WPA2-Enterprise networks.

The Nintendo Switch console only supports the following:

  • Wireless frequencies: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz
  • Wireless modes: 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11ac
  • Wireless security modes: WEP, WPA-PSK (AES), WPA2-PSK (AES)

Resolution

There is no known resolution at this time.

You may wish to provide feedback to the manufacturer by encouraging them to support industry standards like WPA2-Enterprise.

Workaround

Use a USB Ethernet adapter.
