Error: "The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship."


Symptoms

When signing in to a desktop on the TTU domain you get the following error:

The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship.

Cause

Cause #1

The computer does not have an active connection to the TTUnet network.

Cause #2

The computer into which you are attempting to sign in was deleted from the TTU domain in Active Directory.

Resolution

Solution #1

CAUTION: Try this solution first. If this does not work, then try Solution #2.

Verify that the computer is connected to TTUnet via a wired, wireless, or VPN connection.

Solution #2

1) Create a local account.

2) Add the computer back to the TTU domain.


OUTCOME:

You are able to sign in to the computer again.
