Cannot connect to TTU server or computer

There may be a problem with WINS or DNS.

Connect using the full computer name (e.g., server.ttu.edu) or its IP address.

If you are unable to connect to a server or other computer using the computer name, try using the full computer name or IP address.

EXAMPLE: If you cannot connect to TechShare by using \\techshare, you might try using \\techshare.ttu.edu.

IT Help Central can assist you with finding the full computer name or IP address on Texas Tech servers. Most servers at TTU will end in one of the following:

• .ttu.edu
• .texastech.ttu.edu
• .tosm.ttu.edu
• .net.ttu.edu
• .ttuhsc.edu

You can look up a full computer name or IP address using nslookup.

OUTCOME

You will be able to connect using the fully-qualified DNS name of the system or by using its IP address.
