Error: "Enter the password for the Exchange account" on your iPhone or iPad


Symptoms

You receive a message similar to the following on your iPhone or iPad:

Enter the password for the Exchange account "ACCOUNT_NAME"

NOTE: The name of the account inside the quotation marks may vary depending on what you named the account when setting it up.

Cause

Cause #1

You may have changed your password in the eRaider system but have yet to re-verify the TechMail account on your device.

Cause #2

Your eRaider password may have expired in accordance with the published password expiration process.

Cause #3

Your eRaider account is disabled.

Resolution

No one at Texas Tech University or from anywhere else should ask for your password.

Resolution for Cause #1

Go to the Settings app and authorize your TechMail account to ensure that it's verified.

Resolution for Cause #2

1) If your password has expired, set a new password in the eRaider system using either the Change Password or Forgot Password option.

2) Wait for the password change to sync to Microsoft 365.

3) Go to the Settings app on your Apple device and authorize your TechMail account to ensure that it's verified.

Resolution for Cause #3

Work with your departmental IT support person or submit a sign-in assistance request to IT Help Central to confirm whether your account is disabled. Depending on the reason that it's disabled, the account could possibly be enabled to allow access.


OUTCOME

If your account is active with a current password set, you are able to access TechMail on your iPhone or iPad, and the prompt no longer appears.
