Settings and technology needed for connecting to eduroam Wi-Fi

Explanation

If specific instructions do not exist in askIT for your operating system, device, or wireless adapter; you may use the settings below when attempting to connect to the eduroam wireless network:

  • Network name or SSID (case-sensitive): eduroam
  • Network security or authentication:: WPA2-Enterprise, 802.1X
  • Data encryption: AES
  • EAP type or method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 authentication: MS-CHAPv2
  • CA cert: unspecified
  • User cert: unspecified
  • Anonymous ID: blank

When prompted for credentials, Texas Tech University users visiting other institutions should use the following:

  • Username: your_TechMail_address (e.g., jane.doe@ttu.edu)
  • Password: your_eRaider_password
  • Domain: ttu.edu

Users from other institutions who are visiting the TTU campus should use the following:

  • Username: your_home_campus_username (Normally, your email address, such as john.doe@institution.edu)
  • Password: your_home_campus_password
  • Domain: If prompted for this, contact your institution to determine the proper setting

At TTU, eduroam wireless uses the industry standard 802.11n specification. Hardware designed for the 802.11g and 802.11ac standards is usually compatible with the 802.11n standard. However, we recommend checking with the manufacturer to be certain. Older network adapters supporting only 802.11b are not supported.

NOTE: Please make sure that the hardware and software you are purchasing supports these industry standards.
