Retrospect is a backup utility that is available for both Macs and PCs. The software can run as a standalone application, or there can be a server application involved. If there is a server setup, a client must be installed on the machines that are being administered.

The client requires both TCP and UDP ports 497 to be open through the firewall in order for Retrospect to communicate between the server and the client.
