Overview of annual MOU questionnaire administered by TOSM Server Support

Explanation

Throughout the early 2000s, through the cooperation of many TOSM customers, TOSM Server Support has been able to consolidate hundreds of server and storage platforms across Texas Tech in an effort to reduce overall IT expenditures. This has allowed departments, colleges, and institutions to focus on their core competencies and spend less time and resources on IT.

The University Data Center is now home to more than 850 servers, and the added complexity of managing such a large number of systems fueled the need to formalize some of TOSM's service offerings. TOSM annually asks each of their customers to take part in a review process to verify ownership of their servers and to classify those systems into certain service categories. Each service category provided by TOSM is defined by an associated memorandum of understanding (MOU). The MOU outlines the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of both TOSM and the customer while providing a framework for communication and problem resolution.

TOSM has created an online questionnaire through the TOSM Customer Portal that will allow you categorize each of your servers that resides at the data center. Once you have completed the online questionnaire in its entirety and submitted the form, you will receive a confirmation email that the data was submitted successfully. This email will also contain copies of the applicable MOUs along with your selection for each of your servers.
