Forgot reserved (static) IP address and related information

DHCP (obtain an IP address automatically) should be used in all cases for devices connected to TTUnet wired and wireless networks, even for servers and printers. The following information is provided only for the extremely rare cases where DHCP cannot be used.

In the rare cases where an NSC had to request a reserved IP address, should they lose or forget the informationt, the NSC should contact IT Help Central for assistance. At a minimum, the following information should be provided to IT Help Central:

  • Hardware address of the network adapter
  • Current IP address of the system
  • Location (building and room)
  • Plate/port number (for wired connections only)

IT Help Central will assign the issue to network administrators for further assistance. Network administrators should be able to provide the details of the network configuration such as IP address, default gateway, subnet mask, and DNS server IP addresses.
