How to: Use Remote Desktop Connection in Windows 10 to access a remote Windows computer


Instructions

1) Ensure that the remote computer is powered on and is configured to accept incoming connections:

2) In the search bar in the bottom-left corner, type Remote Desktop Connection and click on it in the search results.

3) In the "Computer" field, type the host name or IP address of the computer to which you wish to connect. Then, click the Show Options button.

4) From the Advanced tab, click Settings.

5) Choose "Use these RD Gateway server settings." Then, configure the following settings and click OK.

  • Server name: rdp.ttu.edu
  • Logon method: Allow me to select later

6) Click Connect.

7) Use your TechMail address as the username. Use your eRaider password as the password. Then, click OK.

If you do not have a TechMail account, type your username in the format your_eRaider_username@ttu.edu (e.g., jdoe@ttu.edu).

OUTCOME

You will be connected to the remote computer.
