Introduction
NOTE: The following steps are just one of many ways to receive calls, text messages, and voicemails with a Google Voice account. For a full list of options, please see Google Voice Help.
Instructions
1) Ensure that you have a valid US phone number.
2) Browse to https://www.google.com/voice.
3) Type the email address of your Google Account, and then click NEXT.
TIP: If you do not have one, create a Google Account and proceed to Step 5.
4) Type your Google Account password, and then click NEXT.
5) If you accept, check the box next to "I accept Google Voice's Terms and Privacy Policy." Then, click Proceed.
6) Click I want a new number.
7) Click CONTINUE.
8) Search for an available number, and then click SELECT.
TIP: You can choose any number you want. You don't need a Lubbock phone number just because you're using it for Texas Tech University.
9) Click NEXT.
10) Type an existing phone number to verify the account, and then click SEND CODE.
11) Type the code sent to the phone number you specified in Step 10, and then click VERIFY.
12) Click FINISH.
13) Click FINISH.
Outcome
Your Google Voice number has been set up.
