How to: Request removal of your enterprise voice phone number in TTU Unified Communications

Introduction

Upon activating their enterprise voice (EV) service through eRaider Account Manager, faculty, staff, or student employees at TTUS and TTU are assigned a direct inward dial (DID) number in the format 806-843-xxxx. If circumstances allow, you may be able to remove your phone number according to the procedures outlined in the scenarios below. The processes are all automated so that manual intervention is not necessary.

TIP: If you have retired, left Texas Tech, changed roles, etc. and are receiving an inordinate amount of work-related calls at your DID number, you can set up a custom voicemail greeting to inform callers about your recent change (for example, "I'm no longer with TTU and am not checking voice messages. Please direct your calls to the office of…" You can also set your calls to be forwarded to voicemail immediately so that your phone never rings.

Active faculty, staff, and student employees

You must keep your DID number. Having a phone number in Unified Communications is similar to having a TechMail address—you must have one as long as you have an active employment at TTUS or TTU.

Faculty, staff, and student employees who have changed departments within TTUS or TTU

Your DID number will remain the same as long as you are at TTUS or TTU even if you change departments, just as with your TechMail address. If a department has a need to publish a phone number for a particular function, please follow our recommendations for publishing departmental phone numbers. Your own phone number is for individuals to contact you directly and should not be considered tied to a particular department.

If you do not have a need to use your number daily, you may manage your call forwarding, voicemail, and other settings using the Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business applications, as well as through the web.

Faculty, staff, and student employees whose employment has ended but they have an active affiliation as a student, or their employment has moved to TTUHSC

Your DID number will be removed automatically. In the meantime, you may manage your call forwarding, voicemail, and other settings using the Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business applications, as well as through the web.
