1) Before you do anything, back up all your data.

2) Install a clean version of your operating system.

3) Disable unnecessary services.

4) Install all vendor security patches.

5) Be cautious of using data from backups.

7) Configure firewalls to defend networks.

8) Reconnect to the Internet.
