How to: Recover a file using Time Machine on your Mac


Instructions

  1. Make sure your Mac is backed up with Time Machine.

  2. In your Mac's menu bar, click the Time Machine icon and choose Browse Time Machine Backups.

    TIP: If Time Machine is not in your menu bar, click the magnifiying glass icon, type Time Machine, and press return.

  3. Navigate to the file that you wish to restore. Once you've found it, click it and click Restore.

    NOTE: You can use the arrow buttons or the calendar on the right side to navigate through dates. Then, navigate through the computer as you normally would.

    After finding the desired date, a file is selected and the "Restore" button under the Finder window is highlighted

Outcome

You have restored your desired file.
