How to: Import a .pst file in Outlook for Windows


Instructions

1) In the upper left-hand corner, click File.

2) On the left-hand side, click Open & Export.

3) Click Import/Export.

4) Click the action Import from another program or file. Then, click Next.

5) Click Outlook Data File (.pst), then click Next.

6) Click Browse to search for your .pst file.

7) Click the file you wish to import, and then click Open.

8) Click Next.

9) Choose the folder that you would like to import. If you want to include subfolders as well, make sure and check the box next to Include Subfolders. Then, click Finish.

NOTE: You can also specify the location to which you would like to import this information. If you want to import the items into the folder that you are currently in, choose the option to Import items into the current folder. If you choose the second option, select the folder you would like to import into from the drop down box.

OUTCOME

Depending on the size of the imported file, the process can take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes. You personal folder will be imported into Outlook once the process is complete.
