How to: Force your cached eRaider password in macOS to update from the TTU domain

Introduction

No one at Texas Tech University or from anywhere else should ask for your password.

After you change your eRaider password, your Mac may not accept the new password. Instead, the previous eRaider password continues to work. If this occurs, the steps below will help you update the cached password on your Mac with the correct password from eRaider.

Instructions

1) Ensure that your Mac is connected to the TTUnet network via wired, wireless, or VPN.

2) Open the Terminal app.

3) Type the following command and press return, where your_username is your eRaider username:

login your_username

EXAMPLE: login jdoe

4) Type your current eRaider password and press return.

NOTE: Terminal will not show the password as you type it, so you must enter it carefully.

Outcome

The user account password on your Mac is synchronized with your current eRaider password from the ttu.edu domain.

TIP: If your Mac is encrypted using FileVault (whether enforced by Jamf or not), you may need to also sync your password in FileVault with the TTU domain.
