How to: Connect to a non-broadcasting, open wireless network using Windows 10


Introduction

Open your Network and Sharing Center. Click Set up a new connection or network > Manually connect to a wireless network > Next. Configure the settings you would like. Click Next > Close. Connect to your newly configured network.

Instructions

1) In the notification area (bottom right-hand corner of your screen), right-click the network icon.

2) Click Open Network & Internet settings.

3) Click Network and Sharing Center.

4) Click Set up a new connection or network.

5) Click Manually connect to a wireless network, and then click Next.

6) Configure the following settings, and then click Next.

  • Network name: the SSID of the network to which you wish to connect
  • Security type: No authentication (Open)
  • Start this connection automatically: checked
  • Connect even if the network is not broadcasting: checked

7) Click Close.

8) Click on the Network Icon located at the bottom-right corner of your screen.

9) Click on the network you just configured, and then choose Connect.

OUTCOME

Your computer will now be connected to the wireless network you configured.
