How to: Clear cache in Skype for Business on Windows

Skype for Business caches files locally on a PC to pull information quickly and efficiently. Common reasons that you will want to clear the Skype for Business cache include:

  • You can't sign in to Skype for Business.
  • Your Outlook and Skype for Business integration is not functioning properly.
  • You have problems with the Presence indicator.
  • Your Contact list is out of date.
  • You cannot search for users in Skype for Business.

To clear the cache in Windows Skype for Business:

1) In the top right-hand corner of the main Skype for Business window, next to the settings cog (gear icon), click the drop-down arrow.

2) Click File, and then click Sign Out.

3) On the "Sign in" window, click Delete my sign-in info.

4) Click Yes.

5) Click the drop-down arrow next to the settings cog again.

6) Click File, and then click Exit to close the application.

7) Open the "Run" window.

8) In the Run window, type "%AppData%" and click OK or press Enter.

9) Click AppData in the file path (address bar).

10) Open Local.

11) Open Microsoft.

12) Open Office.

13) Open the folder for your Office version.

14) Open the Lync folder.

15) Right-click the "sip_your_profile_name" folder and choose Delete.

16) Open Tracing.

17) Select all of the files in the folder, right-click them, and choose Delete.

CAUTION: Do not delete the "Tracing" folder itself.

18) Clear the DNS cache.

19) Re-open Skype for Business.

OUTCOME

You have cleared the cache in Skype for Business.
