How to: Change your TechMail display name on outgoing Outlook emails or in the global address list (GAL)

Introduction

CAUTION: The system will not allow you to undo this change! Review your new (proposed) email address and display name carefully before proceeding with the steps.

OUTCOME

Any change to your TechMail address will result in a change to your display name on the GAL and on outgoing emails. Changes can take up to 33 hours to be reflected on the GAL or on outbound email messages.

For TechMail service activated after August 14, 2019, with no custom email address chosen

Your display name in the GAL and on outgoing Outlook emails is your legal last name, a comma, a space, and your legal first name.

EXAMPLE: If your legal name is Jonathan Doe, your display name will be Doe, Jonathan.

For TechMail service activated before August 14, 2019, or with a custom email address chosen

Your display name in the GAL and on outgoing Outlook emails is based on your TechMail address.

EXAMPLE: If your TechMail address is John.Doe@ttu.edu, your display name will be Doe, John. If your TechMail address is J.Doe@ttu.edu, your display name will be Doe, J. If your TechMail address is John.A.Doe@ttu.edu, your display name will be Doe, John A.
